Jerry Lawson - BBA Financial Management, CIB - Ghana

I completed my Advanced Diploma in Business Management in December 2008 after studying for 2 years.

I heard about ABE qualifications initially from a friend who was already studying for them, and then my own research in to the association was enough to substantiate the decision to enrol onto the programme.

I felt obtaining an ABE qualification provided some real opportunities. Some of which include progression to further education. This is coupled with the fact that the ABE qualification is very strong in a highly competitive job market.

The practical and theoretical skills the ABE qualification taught me ranged from the PEST analysis, SWOT analysis, Time Series analysis to Correlation and Regression to Marketing plans and Overhead analysis sheets and Mergers and Acquisitions on cash/share basis. There is tons of theory on these issues that I did not know existed until I took the course.

I am currently doing a BBA degree in financial management, and also taking the Chartered Institute of Banking exams. I have big dreams and aspirations and the ABE qualification gave me a very strong foundation to grow from. I plan to come back to the ABE qualifications to complete the Postgraduate Diploma in Business Management.


Angela T Khonje-Mloza - Malawi

It was a dream come true and all smiles on my graduation day!

After completing my ABE Advanced Diploma in 2007, I enrolled with Leeds Metropolitan University for the online top-up program which saw me graduate with a degree in Business Management. ABE is a very good start for anybody wanting to end up at the top of the learning ladder; because of ABE I am now able to enroll on a MBA program.

A visit to The Management Development Centre, Malawi, by the Founder and Chairman of ABE, Lyndon Jones allowed me to personally express my gratitude to ABE and all their staff for their dedication to providing internationally recognized programmes.

Azariah Francois - St Lucia

Having already completed my ABE Certificate and Diploma, I am now studying part time towards my Advanced Diploma in Business Management. I am currently studying at the National Research & Development Foundation whilst working part time for the Royal St Lucia Police Force.

I heard about ABE through a friend and chose to study with them because their globally recognised professional qualifications offered me the opportunity to progress onto a Masters degree. Once I have completed my Advanced Diploma I plan to utilise these progression routes and do a MSC in International Management at Brighton Business School. My ABE qualifications have truly assisted me in gaining entry on this programme and I am sincerely grateful.

Fiyaz Hassan – Maldives

Chathura K. Sooriya Arachchi, President’s Prize Winner - Sri Lanka

It’s a great pleasure to win the President’s Prize in the December 2008 examinations and the Top Paper Prize for Internet Systems Development module of the BIS - Advanced Diploma. I’m sure this will encourage my higher studies and also everyone else who’s looking to continue with the professional qualifications provided by ABE.

As a student currently reading for my BSc (Hons) degree in Computing, I had to do self-studies for my ABE Advanced Diploma in Business Information Systems. The ABE lecture guides, reading lists, past papers, specimen papers and exam reports were available online at the official ABE website, and all these online exam resources helped me a great deal.

The modules were revised and up-to-date, so I did a lot of reading. I attempted almost all the past papers for each module and evaluated them against the sample answers provided. This improved my writing style and time-managing skills, which were the most vital at the exam. ABE exams have led me organise and structure my work and myself with a touch of professionalism.

I’m thankful to ABE for providing me grounds to achieve this award and for building a strong base in my life as a start to meet all future endeavours with success.

Winnie Nambeya – Cavmont Capital Bank – Zambia

I am a private student studying for the Business Management Diploma part 2 whilst working for Cavmont Capital Bank as Advances/Credit Officer. I interview customers planning to get loans from the Bank, appraise their applications and recommend them to our Head Office. I deal with open loan contracts, fixed deposit accounts (investments) and prepare month-end returns which are then submitted to our Head Office and to our country's central bank.

I heard about ABE qualifications from a friend who was studying and I came across the ABE newsletter. I got interested and after looking at the structure of the qualifications decided from there to pursue a course.

In Zambia ABE qualifications have become very marketable and the vast array of subjects being offered helped me to specialise in marketing and finance as these are my interests.

ABE has taught me to analyse financial statements from customers when they come to borrow money from the bank. I now also understand the HR and Business Law theories applicable to Management.

Once I have completed my ABE qualification I intend to pursue a degree and masters in Business Administration.

Krishnaprasath Krishnamoorthy, Avery Dennison (RIS) Division - Sri Lanka

I am an Executive within Customer Services at Avery Dennison and my role entails handling the retailers within the large garment sector in Sri Lanka. My job role includes apparel mechanizing, a high pressured working environment and need to input long hours of work daily. I receive purchase orders from customers, which are sent to production. I need to co-ordinate with our planners to meet the delivery dates requested by the customers and in addition, I handle all the queries from customers, including customer complaints.

I heard about ABE qualifications from my friend and later saw an advertisement in the newspaper. I chose to study with ABE because the course can be completed in one and half years, it's very cost effective and recognized by many universities for higher education and organisations for employment.

The qualifications have a wide array of subjects covering all areas of business and since studying, I have acquired a vast knowledge of business. This has given me the confidence to face business professionals from various backgrounds.

Mwisa Kayuni - Malawi

I am 28 years of age and I have been working as an Electrical Technician for 5 years.

I took the decision to study ABE Business Administration in 2005, after seeing that even though I had good technical skills, I was lacking in administrative skills. My studies have not been easy but I thank ABE for the study materials and my lecturers. The combination of these two resources resulted in me attaining Top Prize in Diploma 1 Accounting in June 2006.

For a long time, I have wished to pursue a Masters programme in Business Administration, so I was motivated and encouraged when a friend introduced the ABE programme to me.

Now, that I have won this prize, I can confidently say that my dream to pursue the Masters programme is about to be realized.

Bruce Chikoti - Zambia

Since childhood I have had a dream of becoming part of top management level in big corporate organizations. I dreamt of becoming an administrative or finance manager, who would be actively involved in management decision making. When I finished my O'level studies, my results were excellent for university entrance, unfortunately, I had no sponsorship. Then I decided to get a part time job and thought of advancing my career, it is from then that I got to know about ABE.

I started ABE Business Management programme and successfully finished the advanced diploma without failing a single subject. The courses are easily manageable with work and on average my grades were A and B's with just two C's. Fortunately, I managed to get the top paper prize in human resources management despite doing part time studies.

After finishing the ABE Advanced Diploma, I enrolled into CIMA (Chartered Institute of Management Accountants), and was awarded exemptions from Certificate level, straight into managerial level, part 2. I have just cleared half of CIMA managerial level and am currently working with CELTEL / ZAIN ZAMBIA as their regional accountant for eastern province Chipata. I am almost on the edge of reaching my dream of becoming a senior management decision maker.


Sonali Mehta - Kenya

ABE is an all rounder course, encompassing a wide range of different and challenging subjects. Since I wanted to pursue my career in finance, I started the ABE certificate after my O Levels.

After completing my Advanced Diploma, I enrolled for ACCA where I was exempted the whole of Part 1, which consists of 3 papers. ABE had given me the strong foundations that I needed for a tough and even more challenging course. I completed my ACCA in 2 and half years and passed all my papers at the first sitting.

In ABE Diploma 2 I had received 3 Top-Paper Prizes in Marketing, Human Resource Management and Managerial Accounting. In ACCA I obtained 99% in Taxation (Paper 2.3) and 68% in Audit (Paper 2.6), which were the highest marks in Africa for that sitting. I strongly believe that this was possible because of my strong foundations which I received through ABE.

This year I did my Bachelors in Science in Applied Accounting, from Oxford Brookes University, and am currently waiting for my results. I am currently looking for a job and wish to do my Masters degree after gaining relevant work experience.

To all those currently studying ABE and to those who wish to pursue their careers in accounting, I suggest that ABE is the best course you could choose to start your studies. Their study materials and online assistance is of great help. Thank You ABE.


M Safran Saly - West London College - UK

The ABE programme in Business Management has been the starting point for my career in Business Management. The programme's flexible entry system enabled me to start the ABE Business Management just after my O Levels. I was able to finish my A Levels and ABE Business Management within 2 years time and with good grades. I held the world prize for ‘Principles in Business Law' in the 2006 December examination and completed my ABE Business Management programme with flying colours. I was awarded the world prize for the second time for ‘Management in Organisation' in the 2007 December examination.

I am very thankful to ABE for rewarding me for my efforts. Completion of my ABE in Sri Lanka had led me gain entry for the final year of the BBA Programme in West London College in UK, the degree is to be awarded by Heriot-Watt University a well reputed and Royal Chartered University. At present I am doing my BBA final Semester in West London College, UK and will be graduating at the end of 2008.

ABE has enabled me to become a graduate in just three years time, at the same time holding the ABE Business Management professional qualification. ABE is going to help a lot of students become graduates in less time and with less cost.

ABE has set a great path way for my business life and hopefully I'll be starting my MBA programme in 2009.

It has been a great and rewarding experience working towards the completion of the ABE programme. At each level of this programme I was able to fully comprehend and apply certain business principles at my place of work. For example having worked at Ealing Council in London throughout my studies, I can now appreciate the type of organisation it is and the different roles of each department and how each contributes towards the corporate goals of the council. Working in both the public and private sector in the past has allowed me to compare each, which has enabled me to channel my goals in one direction.

Angelina – AMABE – UK

When I started ABE I had a dream to do a Masters as I believed it would be of great benefit to me in future.

As soon as I finished my final Advanced Diploma exams in June 2006, I applied to two universities of my choice. I got a response first from the London Met offering me a conditional place; the conditions were I had to pass my ABE exams and attend an interview with the university to prove I was qualified enough to enrol on a Masters degree course. They advised I take my ABE transcripts with me to the interview and also post a copy to go with my records on the application.

I awaited a response from London South Bank University and they offered me a place on a bachelor's degree final year. I refused to accept this and pushed for a place on an MSc/Pg. International Tourism Marketing. I called up the course director and two of the tutors on the course and I assured them that I had the qualifications and would work hard at the course. Their major concern was that I wouldn't be able to handle the course work at the Masters level but due to my persistence they offered me an interview in which I had to prove my skills and level of study in line with the course modules. Having had my ABE transcripts with grade and modules' explanations, the course director was able to see that most of the modules covered in the final year at university I had done with ABE and passed well. This backed me up and so did my two references, they were a requirement to go with my application. The course director was impressed by my grades and level of knowledge considering the high standard modules ABE syllabus and exams provide.

I started my MSc International Tourism Marketing degree in September 2006 right after my ABE results were out. I studied my MSc full time and as of now, I'm pleased to say I passed all my unit exams and my final dissertation project which I'm so very proud of. I will be graduating later this year and I can't wait. I'm looking for jobs at the moment within tourism and marketing and many top job agencies are keen to give me employment because of my education background and skills. I'm grateful to ABE and my University for opening many doors for me.


Huma Shah – UK

After completing my ABE Advanced Diploma in Business Administration exams I went on to Middlesex University to study the final year of a BA Hons in Business Administration from which I graduated with a 2:1. Previous experience working alongside a Human Resource department and also gaining the top paper prize from the Association of Business Executives for Strategic Human Resource Management motivated me to continue my education in this field after the completion of my degree. As a result I pursued a CIPD Accredited Masters in Human Resource Management at Middlesex University (on a full time basis) which I successfully passed in July 2007.

Before graduating I secured a job within Human Resources in the public sector and have acquired skills and experience to match the knowledge and learning gained via the many different courses attended including my ABE Diploma's. I am currently about to start a new job within the private sector and am looking forward to the challenging and rewarding benefits this is going to offer.

I plan to continue my education within the Human Resource field.

I still feel privileged to have gained the qualifications I did from the Association of Business Executives as it gave me the ability and motivation to pursue further and higher education and a career that I really enjoy and feel I am right for. I would also like to take this opportunity to thank the teachers at Kensington College of Business (including Ian Pirie) for their excellent lectures; I have yet to find teachers to match them in skill and commitment.


Maria Carolina Prado e Souza - Malvern House College - UK

After studying law in my home country of Brazil, I decided to relocate to the UK to study for an internationally recognized qualification in business.

I heard about the ABE courses when I joined my college to study for an English language qualification and am now completing the Advanced Diploma in Business Management with ABE.

I am studying Business Information Systems at the London College of Business Management and IT and I first discovered ABE through research on the internet. I wanted to take a qualification that was flexible and convenient, and that provided me with the opportunity to progress to University. These are all things that an ABE qualification offers, as well as being recognised in its own right internationally.

Taking the Business Information Systems programme has given me a greater understanding of IT and its uses in business, as well as giving me a broad theoretical knowledge of the business world in general.

I studied for a BA in Maths and Economics at the University of Nairobi, and was keen to take an MBA course. I found out about ABE qualifications from Shareworld Open University in Malawi, although I completed my studies as a private student. I decided to become an ABE student because the qualification is internationally recognised and because I have seen for myself how ABE graduates hold prominent managerial positions at work. I myself now hold a managerial position at a hotel.

By taking the ABE qualification, I have learnt that good communication skills, team work, organisation, and hard work make a good manager. I am currently studying the ABE Certificate in Business Management at Medway College in Dublin but I come from Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. I heard about the ABE qualification from my college and am studying full time. I chose the ABE qualification as I wanted to deepen my knowledge and skills in Business Management, but I also wanted to learn about the financial aspects of a business and appreciate the functions of human resources within an organisation.

I am Head of Finance at Trend United Group LTD and I completed my Diploma in Business Administration in 1994. My job requires me to manage all aspects of the finance department, including the overseeing of financial reporting and secretarial duties.

I found out about ABE from a friend who gave me a copy of the Student Focus magazine and I was encouraged by the success stories of students that were inside. I took the Advanced Diploma in Business Administration and found that, apart from ABE being flexible and affordable, the qualifications provide students with many practical and theoretical skills such as leadership, negotiation and planning.

Due to its transferability and international recognition, my ABE qualification has enabled me to enter the third year of a Marketing degree at Kenya Methodist University and I have even been granted exemptions in some subjects because I have already studied them with ABE.

I moved to London from South Africa to study the Business Management stream with my guide dog Sandy, with the aim to studying for a degree in Charity Marketing and Fundraising.

I chose to study with ABE because it is an international organisation whose qualifications are highly transferable and recognisable worldwide, meaning that I can study and work anywhere in the world with my qualification.

George Akuffo Kodjoe - Sierra Leone Diamond Company - Sierra Leone

I'm a Ghanaian currently working in Sierra Leone and a member of the Association. I completed the Business Administration diploma 2 exams in 1998 and was awarded an associate membership status a year after. I went on to complete the Advance Diploma in 2001 and was given a full membership status that same year.

After obtaining the ABE advance diploma qualification I traveled to the UK and obtained various qualifications including a Postgraduate Certificate of Business Administration from Heriot Watt University in Scotland, an MBA (International Business) degree from University of East London and an MSc (Accounting with Finance) degree from London South Bank University all in England.

I have been working in various capacities in finance and administration with companies in the African mining industry after obtaining the diploma level 1 certificate. I am currently employed by the Sierra Leone Diamond Company (AIM listed company with interest in diamonds, iron ore and gold) as the Finance Manager.

When I started studying for the ABE Business Administration progamme I never thought the ABE qualification could open so many doors for me until I obtained the Diploma Level 1 certificate and landed my first job. I will always recommend ABE to anyone who wants a profession in finance and administration.

I started my ABE programme in 2005 having completed my Secretarial studies with about 3 years work experience.

I heard about ABE when I was in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia and looking to take up a course to further my studies. I believe it was The Regent School of Economics that introduced this course to their students. I liked the interesting subjects (and still do!) that were being offered on the course.

I started the ABE Diploma in Business Administration in 2005, by which time I was already in full-time employment.

The Business Administration course is very comprehensive and helps me lot in my day-to-day work. It also helps me to understand better my organisation and take into account human factors.

My preferred subject in Diploma part one was Organisational Behaviour because my vision of the organisation has changed, as has the way I advise colleagues when they encounter difficulties.

I also found the unit in Business Law very useful since much of my work is related to the making of contracts. This unit gave me a clearer understating of the technical terms being used.

ABE's study materials (which are available online) often help me in better understanding the subjects and revising for exams. When I receive Student Focus, I usually go through the magazine as the examiners' study tips offer good guidance on how exams should be approached.

Taking the ABE Travel, Tourism and Hospitality course was not only an opportunity, but also a challenge for me. My biggest problem when I started was the language barrier. English is not my first language and there were some frustrating times, but my teachers and friends encouraged me and gave me lots of help. I also used the ABE website to get a lot of support.

Wazir Mohamed FABE - Private Candidate - Guyana

My name is Wazir Mohamed, and I am a Fellow of ABE.

My ABE story starts in the early 1980s! Whilst teaching in a primary school in Guyana I wanted to challenge myself in the field of management and discovered ABE in a college brochure. I studied as a private student after my teaching had finished for the day. As I was the only person in Guyana taking these examinations I had to pay all the fees and expenses to the Ministry of Education, including invigilation.

I sat for the Certificate in June 1982, Diploma in Management in 1983 and the Advanced Diploma in Business Administration in June 1984 and did very well. After further studies I went to the United States of America and studied at Lehman College of the City University of New York in New York City. At Lehman College I obtained 24 Graduate credits in Special Education and a Masters in Business Education with a GPA of 3.8/4.0.

I then moved to Canada and earned the Professional Manager's designation (P.Mgr.) from the Canadian Institute of Management. This designation is given only to senior managers with a proven track record in business.

Over the years I have worked my way up the ladder in several excellent companies such as Training Co-ordinator at Guyana Stores Limited in Georgetown, Guyana; Marketing Analyst and Sales Representative at Esso Standard Oil S.A. Limited in Guyana; and Retail Manager at A-Z Cosmetics in New York City.

I now live in Toronto and am currently Vice-President of KSR Personnel, a staffing agency specializing in providing staffing services to manufacturing companies across Canada.

ABE has done wonders for me because without my ABE qualifications I would not have been able to achieve success. ABE programmes provide a solid foundation in business and management. With these qualifications and hard work, the sky is the limit.


Chien Chien Chong - Methodist Pilley Institute - Malaysia

I started my ABE Certificate in June 1999 at the Methodist Pilley Institute, Sarawak. In 2000 I progressed to the Diploma and then onto the Advanced Diploma. Before ABE, I was studying an ordinary Diploma in Business Management in Malaysia.

I decided to go down the ABE route because I felt that it gave me the chance to sharpen my knowledge and business skills.

I particularly enjoy the flexibility of the course and the fact that it's a cost-effective way to gain knowledge.

Throughout the course I received a good level of support from ABE. My lecturers and peers also helped me a lot through discussion and group work. I completed my Advanced Diploma in Business Administration in 2003.

I recently completed my BA (Hons) in Business Administration through the University of Hertfordshire and am working while waiting for my result. When I get my result I plan to pursue my MBA at Southern Cross University, Australia.

I feel that my ABE qualification has helped me because I can apply the skills and knowledge that I learned from the course to my research in the final year of my degree.

I would recommend ABE to students who are looking for an excellent business qualification. It is not an easy programme and you have to study smart and hard, but the rewards are there when you finish.

Before ABE, I had been working as a bank teller, deciding how to move my career forward. I met with a representative from HECS who told me about the ABE Business Administration programme.

I found that the course content and progression routes to a degree programme fitted with what I wanted to do. The idea of having an international qualification was very attractive to me.

I really enjoyed the family atmosphere at HECS and the great, supportive classmates, lecturers and revision classes. The support I got from ABE was tremendous. My ABE qualification has definitely helped my personal and career development. I have even lectured ABE courses and supported many students taking ABE programmes. At work I was promoted to a supervisory position and have now moved on to their management programme. I would like to succeed on this management role before one day becoming a consultant in entrepreneurship.

I realised the value of my ABE qualification when I studied for a diploma for insurance managers.
