On 18th June 2004, the Department for Education Skills (DfES) announced the creation of a new Register of Education Providers for the private college sector.

The Register will be made available to the Home Office to support their decision-making with regard to student visa applications.

For colleges applying for accreditation, being on the Register will be a necessary condition of applications being accepted. (Existing accredited colleges who are not on the Register will have their accreditation reviewed.)

Applications for re-accreditation cannot be accepted until such registration has been achieved.

Please monitor the DfES website for the latest information or view the announcement here: http://www.dfes.gov.uk/pns/DisplayPN.cgi?pn_id=2004_0120
