Candidates will be notified individually of their examination results, normally about two months after the examinations.

Examination results will not be issued to any candidate who owes annual subscriptions or any money to The Association before the fees are paid in full.

Grades

Successful candidates will be awarded a graded pass in each subject. Credits or Distinctions will be awarded where applicable. All result slips show alphabetical grades; it is not the policy of The Association to disclose marks obtained.

Please see below details of the grades

Grade A - 70%+ Distinction
Grade B - 55-69% Credit
Grade C - 40-54% Pass
Grade D - 30-39% Fail
Grade E - 29% and below Fail

Candidates will be allowed to resit any subject which they have failed but not subjects that they have passed.

Enquiries About Results

ABE provides candidates with a variety of options relating to Enquiries about Examination results (EAR). To apply, candidates must use the EAR form (click on the link below). The form must reach ABE within 20 days of results being issued, no later than 19 September (June Exam) and 20 March (December Exam). Please note that the form must be accompanied with the correct payment.

There are four different enquiries available:

  • Clerical Check (Script checked for correct entry of marks into computer) £15
  • Re-mark of Scripts (Script to be re-marked and candidate informed within 35 days) £35
  • Re-mark of Scripts Priority Service (Script to be re-marked and candidate informed within 20 days) £40
  • Appeal (Only considered on the grounds of an administrative error which may have had a detrimental effect on the candidate's capacity to best demonstrate his/her abilities) £100

Where an EAR results in a change of grade, the EAR fee will be returned to the candidate in full.

The candidate is advised that their subject grade may be confirmed, raised or lowered as a result of an EAR request.
