ABE event hails new opportunities for alumni in Sierra Leone
An ABE alumni event in took place in Freetown on 31 July. In attendance were many learners who had to drop out during the ebola outbreak and we're delighted to welcome them back as they are keen to resume their ABE studies and were inspired by the updated portfolio.
Also in attendance were key employers from Freetown including Africell (biggest telecoms network in Sierra Leone) who have just employed ABE graduate and Top Paper Award winner, Victor Peacock-Sawyerr (pictured right) - congratulations to Victor!
It was a full event with notable speeches, press presence with TV and radio interviews, good food, cold drinks and a networking session that led to an ABE graduate getting a job and one organisation requesting accreditation forms to set up a training arm using ABE's short courses.
Sierra Leone has recently elected a new president and the new government is particular about problem solving. This same rhetoric was common among key speakers, they were confident that ABE graduates would play a key role in rebuilding their economy!
