Enter for the Learner of the Year
Calling all members, we would like to invite you to submit a nominee for the Learner of the Year Award. The Award is open to anyone who has achieved an ABE Diploma in the last two years. This could be yourself or a fellow ABE learner, if you know someone who deserves recognition.
This is a prestigious Award run by the The Federation of Awarding Bodies (FAB); the official UK trade association for the industry. The Award represents a great opportunity for the winner to gain special recognition and public acknowledgement of their achievement.
What type of learner are the judges looking for?
The judges are looking for someone who has demonstrated a real commitment to learning, this may be by overcoming hardship or difficult circumstances to achieve their ABE qualification.
The nominee needs to have passed at least one ABE Level (full Diploma) within the last two years (2017 or 2018). They don't need to have achieved the highest grade, but they do need to have demonstrated enthusiasm for education in spite of any difficulties they may have faced.
The winner will be announced at the FAB conference in the evening of 18 October 2018.
FAB entry criteria
This is what the judges need to know:
- The qualification and level achieved
- How the learner demonstrated an enthusiasm for learning
- How the learner demonstrated that they have a high level of understanding and skill in their industry - this should be more than purely the award of a qualification
- What challenges the learner faced and how they were overcome
- The future ambitions of the learner
- Why the learner deserves to win the Award
ABE learners deserve to win!
We would love an ABE learner to win this year's Award. We know so many people go to extraordinary lengths to further their education via ABE, so if that's you or someone you know please do send us the nominee.
Unfortunately, ABE can only enter one person for the Award, so once we receive the nominees we will select who to put forward, however we will endeavour to publicise the stories of as many people as possible.
We look forward to receiving your nominations.
