Sachin Ramcharan, Trinidad & Tobago – Top Paper Award in Introduction to Quantitative Methods studied at the School of Business & Computer Science
I have always loved the idea of moving to another country to study. I am 22 years old, currently living with my family (mother, father and older brother). I enjoy reading and challenging myself with puzzles. I studied sciences before beginning a Computer Science degree but realised I did not have a passion for it. I have done a few years of summer internships which have opened my mind to the business environment and linking the theory I learned to practical skills.
I chose to study ABE since it is highly accredited and has helped open my mind to the business world and how businesses operate. I study at the School of Business and Computer Science (Champ Fleurs branch) and enjoy my learning experience since the lecturers are very friendly and help me understand the material and push me to do my best. I am grateful for their assistance since I was not confident in myself having had no previous business education background.
Among the public who do know about ABE, the exams are seen as challenging but well worth the work since it is a great qualification to have and is accepted worldwide. After completing Level 5, I wish to move onto Level 6 and hopefully Level 7 to put myself in a better position to get jobs. I am looking for jobs to help build my portfolio and experience as well as put my knowledge to practice in real life situations.
The best thing about studying with ABE is how readily available all the resources are. The manuals are simple to read and understand while covering all the learning outcomes. Also all the past papers which assisted in my practicing and application of the information increased my confidence.
I have gained a better understanding of how a business works, the key points to look for when trying to start a business and what makes the business succeed or fail. Also, the inner workings of a business, how people interact and communicate within an organisation as well as with other people or groups outside of the organisation.
I wish to open my own business (hopefully a restaurant since I love food) in the near future as I now understand aspects I should look for. I hope to gain experience in a restaurant working as a manager and moving forward till I have enough practical skills and confidence to open my own.
