Today, ABE and the Hotel, Catering and Tourism Training Institute (HOTCATT) launched a new collaboration, marking a significant step towards developing a globally competitive tourism and hospitality workforce in Ghana. The partnership will introduce internationally recognised ABE qualifications through HOTCATT's training programmes, providing learners with new opportunities to gain world-class skills and career progression.
The launch, themed "Building a Globally Competitive Tourism Workforce: Advancing Skills, Professionalism and International Qualifications", reflects the growing need for professionals who combine technical expertise with business, leadership and customer service skills to meet the evolving demands of the industry.
Through the collaboration, HOTCATT learners will access to ABE's internationally recognised qualifications in Travel, Tourism, Hospitality, Business and Leadership, regulated by Ofqual in England. The qualifications will complement HOTCATT's practical, industry-focused training by strengthening business acumen, entrepreneurship, leadership and service excellence and creating clear progression pathways from foundational to advanced qualifications.
The official launch included representatives from the Ministry of Tourism, Culture and Creative Arts, the Ghana Tourism Authority, the Ghana Tourism Development Company, industry associations, hotel owners, tour operators, technical universities, development partners, prospective learners and ABE Global representatives.
It featured presentations on the partnership and the future of tourism skills development, before the official launch by the Guest of Honour. This collaboration reinforces Ghana's ambition to build a highly skilled tourism workforce while supporting the country's broader TVET and tourism development agenda.
