Successful candidates will be awarded a graded pass in each subject. Merits or Distinctions will be awarded where applicable.
Please see below details of the grades:
|A*||75% - 100%||Higher Distinction|
|A||65% - 74%||Distinction|
|B||50% - 64%||Merit|
|C||40% - 49%||Pass|
|D||30% - 39%||Marginal Fail|
|E||15% - 29%||Fail|
|F||0% - 14%||Unclassified|
Please note that the Criteria Fail (CF) Grade was only used in the June 2014, December 2014 and June 2015 examination sessions.
This grade meant that, even though a learner had achieved a pass mark of at least 40%, they hadn’t achieved the required Learning Outcomes to achieve a pass for that unit. This was a rule stipulated by Ofqual for ALL UK awarding bodies (not just ABE).
Top Paper Awards
ABE believes in rewarding success. Every session, we honour our highest achievers in each unit with a special Top Paper award. Recipients and their tutors get a special certificate and the chance to publicise their achievement. All learners also receive one year's free subscription
There is also an award for the outstanding achiever across QCF Level 6. This is called the President's Prize and is awarded to the student sitting all five course units in one examination session and gaining the highest aggregate mark at Grades A*, A and B.
