Here is Maxwell's full story:

''I am the first born of 5 children. I’m a Ghanaian, I live and work in Accra the capital city of Ghana. I’m married with 3 children, 2 boys and a girl at the ages of 8, 7 and 6.

GOIL PLC is the biggest oil marketing company in Ghana with over 400 fuel stations across the nation and directly employing over 500 members of staff. We have other subsidiaries that also deal in petroleum products like bitumen, lubricants, and oil exploration. I work as the Administrative Executive to the Group CEO.

I began my career as a Marketing Executive at an IT Consulting firm where our core business was Electronic Records Management services. But I have also worked in other smaller companies before. I was the key employee throughout the project lifecycle of all the projects we’ve been on. Because it was a small company, I had the opportunity to perform in every aspect of the business. Working alongside studying with ABE was pivotal in my success because I had the opportunity to apply what I studied in my job. My superiors always describe me as unique because I did everything excellently without any supervision. It was through my diligence and attitude to work that the former Group CEO of my current company offered me a job to be able to sustain the project we came to implement in the company. My roles have evolved over a period where I was providing personal assistance to all the Head of Department in the company. Today, I’m excited to hold the position of Administrative Executive working directly with the Group CEO and other directors in the company and our subsidiary companies. I aspire to continuously improve my knowledge, commitment to excellence, and unwavering passion for AI, electric mobility, and technology. My goal is to become an expert in energy and technology as the world transitions from hydrocarbons to renewable and environmentally friendly energy sources.

In my quest to find an alternative to my secondary education, I came to know ABE and what it has on offer which I always take pride in. I used my Level 6 certificate to apply for a Masters degree in Project Management which I completed successfully.

I love what I do. The supportive and collaborative team environment at my company is quite impressive and I feel my strengths are well utilised. My job is very challenging and difficult, but I found joy in the ability to solve problems and provide supportive roles in my company. Working with the Group CEO comes with a lot of responsibilities, one needs to be hardworking, honest, able to deliver on time, proactive, accurate, and the ability to work under pressure. I am currently working with the second Group CEO of the company and my performance has been outstanding. It has been a very rewarding job both financially and in my personal development as well.

My advice to those starting out on their ABE studies is no matter what stage they may be to not give up. Work hard, do more research, and practice a lot of past questions until you feel comfortable and confident about the exam. There may be instances of failures, but those failures should propel them to pay more attention to their studies because the future belongs to those who are diligent and resilient. Where there are no challenges, there are no heroes.''
