''My name is Piers Chisomo Mvula, and I am from Malawi. I completed my Advanced Diploma in Business Management in 2024. I come from a supportive family that values education and hard work. Currently, I am working as an Administrator at PJK&P Consulting Engineers, where I assist with office coordination and administrative tasks. I am eager to continue learning and growing professionally in the field of business management.
PJK&P Consulting Engineers is a small engineering consultancy with an employee range of about 10 to 100 staff. The company provides engineering consulting services, including project planning, site supervision, and technical support for construction projects. The organisational structure is relatively flat, which allows for flexible communication and teamwork.
I work as an Administrator at PJK&P Consulting Engineers. My role involves oversight of several operational tasks such as logistics coordination, procurement of materials, and supporting employee welfare and basic human resource activities. Because of the flat structure, I also assist management with multiple responsibilities to ensure the daily operations of the company run smoothly.
After completing my Diploma in Business Management in 2024, I developed knowledge in administration, communication, and organisational operations. After completing my studies, I started working at PJK&P Consulting Engineers as an Administrator. In this role, I gained practical experience handling logistics, procurement, office coordination, and supporting basic human resource functions. This experience has helped me build strong organisational and teamwork skills and has motivated me to continue growing in the business and management field.
I became interested in studying ABE because, while growing up, I always had a strong desire to work in leadership and one day manage an organisation at a high level, such as a CEO. My interest increased when my brother studied Business Management with ABE and shared with me the benefits of the programme. This encouraged me to enrol as an ABE student. Through the course, I gained valuable knowledge in administration, business operations, communication, and organisational leadership. The ABE qualification helped me understand how to be an effective employee and also how to manage and run a business independently. It played an important role in starting my career path and has contributed to my professional growth, which led to my current role in administration.''
What I enjoy most about my job is the trust the company places in me to take responsibility and lead in different tasks. At PJK&P Consulting Engineers, I am given opportunities to communicate and make decisions with different stakeholders, which helps me grow professionally. It is very satisfying to see that my work is adding value to the organisation and supports the smooth running of daily operations.
