''I was born in Lilongwe but raised in Blantyre, where I am currently based. My parents are based in Chitipa, in the Northern Region of Malawi, where they have ventured into agripreneurship. I come from a family of four.
In terms of my education, I was introduced to ABE through my elder sister, which gave me an opportunity to develop my knowledge and skills in business and management. In 2022, I enrolled on a Bachelor’s degree in Social Work at Millennium University, which I have now completed, and I am currently awaiting graduation.
Professionally, I currently serve as a Social Media Manager for Vital Infrastructural Services. This role allows me to apply my communication and digital skills in a professional setting. I am passionate about continuous learning, personal development, and using the knowledge and skills I gain to make a positive contribution to my community.
I chose to study ABE because of its international recognition, its flexible study options, and the opportunity it provides to progress to a university degree through a potentially faster route. I also saw it as an opportunity to gain practical business knowledge and skills that would support both my academic and professional development.
It is recognised as a reputable international qualification that provides practical business, management, and entrepreneurship skills. Employers often see ABE graduates as well prepared for administrative, management, customer-service, and business-related roles. The qualification is also valued because it offers a flexible pathway to further studies
Once I complete my Level 6 Diploma and degree, I plan to apply for a Masters degree.
The best thing about studying with ABE is its flexibility. I appreciate the fact that it allows students to plan their studies and examinations in a way that suits their individual circumstances. There is less pressure to sit all examinations at once because students can divide their subjects across different examination sessions throughout the year. The availability of assignments, where applicable, also provides additional flexibility in how students complete their assessments.
I find this approach helpful because it allows me to manage my workload effectively, focus on understanding each subject, and prepare thoroughly for my examinations. For me, ABE's flexibility creates a learning environment where I can balance my studies with other responsibilities while still working towards my academic goals.
Studying with ABE has helped me develop several important skills, including analytical thinking, problem-solving, decision-making, time management, and organisational skills. It has also strengthened my understanding of business management and how organisations operate.
One of the most important skills I have gained is the ability to analyse information and make informed decisions. I have also learned how to manage my time effectively, especially when balancing my studies with other responsibilities.
In my current role as a Social Media Manager at Vital Infrastructural Services, these skills help me plan and organise my work, manage deadlines, communicate effectively to clients, and think strategically about how to present information to an audience.
My tips for successful study:
- Start preparing as early as possible, especially once you are sure of the subject you are taking. Do not wait until exam booking opens.
- Make full use of the study guides provided by ABE.
- Take short notes while studying or listening to lectures.
- Create your own practice questions.
- Join group discussions if you feel comfortable doing so.
I plan to build and expand my small business by applying the business knowledge gained through my studies. In the future, I also intend to pursue a Masters degree to deepen my expertise and take on greater professional responsibilities.''
