ABE Level 6 all streams (RQF only)
Students who have passed all their Level 6 modules will be eligible to apply on an individual basis for entry to the Masters Qualifying Programme. The MQP is available as a one, two or three-term programme, with guaranteed progression to a wide range of Masters degrees at the University of Sunderland.
ABE Level 3 Certificate in Business Essentials and ABE Level 4 Foundation Diploma in Business Management
Students who have passed all the above Level 3 and 4 modules will be eligible to apply on an individual basis for entry to the International Year One (IY1) course. The IY1 is a one-year programme that offers successful students’ progression to Year 2 of a number of Business-related degrees at the University of Sunderland:
- BA (Hons) Business and Financial Management
- BA (Hons) Business and Human Resource Management
- BA (Hons) Business and Management
- BA (Hons) Business and Marketing Management

The IY1 programme is designed for international students who do not quite have the academic grades and/or English level to start the first year of an undergraduate degree at the University of Sunderland. All students who achieve the required mark for progression are guaranteed progression to Year 2 of a business-related undergraduate degree at the University of Sunderland. This programme is set at level 4, and is equivalent to the first year of an undergraduate degree in the UK.
The MQP is designed to prepare international students for postgraduate study in the UK. The MQP will allow students to improve their English while learning the study skills and research methods that they will need during their Masters degree studies.
ABE Level 6 Diploma in Business Management
This qualification aims to develop the theoretical knowledge and strategic skillset you need to excel in a leadership role. It is at the same level of difficulty as the final year of a Bachelors degree.

ABE Level 6 Diploma in Business Management and Human Resources
Develop a critical strategic understanding of contemporary management and the skill set to be a senior HR professional.
ABE Level 6 Diploma in Business Management and Marketing
Develop a critical strategic understanding of contemporary management issues and the skill set you need as a senior marketing professional. The final year of a Bachelors degree is at the same level.
ABE Level 4 Foundation Diploma in Business Management
The shorter Foundation Diploma provides a good general grounding in core aspects of business. It will also give you the tools to develop yourself in a way that will support your long term career progression.
It is designed for those who wish to further their career or progress quickly onto the next ABE Level and then go onto employment. If you wish to progress to a university degree, the 8 Unit - 120 credit - Diploma is likely to provide more favourable progression options in the long term.
