''I'm Yassin Ajida, originally from Machinga district, but I grew up in Mulanje district with my uncle there, where I did my primary as well as secondary school.
I chose ABE in order to enhance my leadership and management skills as well as to improve business acumen and strategic thinking. In addition to that, I wanted to have networking opportunities with peers and industry experts
In Malawi, employers and the public highly value individuals with ABE qualifications because they possess a wide variety of knowledge in business management, leadership, and entrepreneurial skills. ABE qualifications are recognised internationally, which makes holders more employable both locally and abroad. This is partly due to the comprehensive curriculum and the professional nature of the course, which equips students with relevant skills and attributes that employers look for.
My immediate plan after completing my ABE studies is to enhance my professional skills and knowledge through practical experience. On the other hand, continuing my studies with a degree in business administration.
Studying with ABE has equipped me with various skills, including leadership skills, strategic thinking, problem-solving, communication, presentation, negotiation skills, understanding financial concepts, budgeting, and decision-making.
Here are some study tips that I can share for one to succeed:
- Set clear goals
- Define what you want to achieve and set specific, measurable goals.
- Create a study schedule
- Plan out your study sessions and stick to your schedule
- Use active learning techniques
- Engage with the material by summarising notes in your own words, creating concept maps, or making flashcards.
- Regular practice helps reinforce learning and builds confidence.
- Seek help when needed
- Don't hesitate to ask for help from instructors, classmates, or tutors.
- Regular review of material helps solidify learning and prevent last-minute cramming.
My long-term career plans are to become a leader or expert in my field of business management, achieve greater financial success since I have gained skills in financial management, and find a sustainable work-life balance.''
