I was employed as a Registry Clerk but, in the middle of my studies after completing Level 5 Diploma, I was promoted to the post of an Assistant Human Resource Management Officer because of the skills that I acquired with ABE.

Doris chose ABE because of its strong reputation and fast progression opportunities. She shares some great tips for successful study.  Here is her story:

"I am a last born in the family of Mr Warrington and Mrs Kerstina Mhango. Before studying with ABE, I was a holder of a Malawi School Certificate of Education and was working as a Registry Clerk at Malawi Bureau of Standards.

I chose to study ABE because of its reputation. Here in Malawi, ABE is highly reputable so that when you complete it you are able to advance in terms of career progression and you are allowed entry to any university as a third-year student. Therefore, instead of for years of study, you can do only two.  Next, I will go for a Degree in Human Resource Management.

The best thing about studying with ABE is that you gain more knowledge and skills that help you succeed in your field of work. For example, in my case, when I started studying, I was employed as a Registry Clerk but in the middle of my studies after completing my Level 5 Diploma, I was promoted to the post of an Assistant Human Resource Management Officer because of the skills that I acquired with ABE.

I have gained all the skills that are needed in Human Resource Management from recruitment, training, through to the retirement of employees.  My tips to others who are starting their studies are to be open-minded, download all the necessary materials from the ABE portal and search for learning materials from other sources so you gain more understanding in your field of study.

My long term plans are to carry on studying up to a Masters Degree and become the Head of HR one day."
