ABE Board

The ABE Board acts as the final decision-making body of ABE in policy and education matters. It comprises people with extensive experience and expertise in their field.


Keith Ramsay - Chairman

Keith has considerable leadership experience gained  over the past 25 years, focusing on strategic management, skills, coaching and business growth. He has key skills in business and organisational transformation, cultural change, turnaround and efficiency programmes. He is experienced in Operations, Organisational Development, Cultural Change, Business Support & Strategic Development in the public, private and  not-for-profit sectors. 



Professor Steve Bristow

Professor Bristow established Open Direction Ltd in 2002. He was Deputy Vice-Chancellor of the University of Glamorgan and Principal of Shrewsbury College of Arts and Technology. A specialist in governance, assessment and quality assurance, he has been Education Consultant for the Australian Council for Educational Research, Chief External Examiner for the Institute of Directors and Head of Inspection Services for BAC. 


Philippa Hale

Philippa is a specialist in social and experiential learning, entrepreneur and director of Open Limits. She has had a diverse, international career. She has designed modules for and taught on Henley Business School MBA courses, including in the area of cross-cultural management and leadership.   She has an MSc in Organisational Behaviour (University of London, Birkbeck). Her specialist field is inter-group relationships – including cross-team, cross-functional and trans-national collaboration.   

Aidan O'Carroll

Aidan is a senior partner at EY. He leads the Global Compliance and Reporting business. Formerly the Head of Tax for the UK Firm. Aidan had had a long and distinguished career in the tax and financial area, including 11 years at HMRC as a senior Inspector of Taxes.



William Oswald

William’s extensive experience in advisory and non-executive roles, is underpinned by knowledge and skills gained in CEO positions. Since 1987, he has specialised in first-mover start-up, establishing businesses and charities in emerging economies. He has worked in Africa, Asia, Europe and Latin America across a broad range sectors, including Education.  


Graham Parker

Graham is a Senior Management Executive with significant experience gained from within the Private, Not-for-Profit, Public, and Health Sectors. He is an experienced Chairman, Interim Senior Executive, and Chief Executive.
