I chose the ABE programme because of its affordability, flexibility and its reputable world-class educational standards

Senior Accounts Clerk, Abigail, had moments of doubt during her studies when she wanted to give up but, with the support of her college lecturers and friends, continued to try her best.  As a result she achieved her Level 5 certificate in under 12 months and a Top Paper award.  Abigail is a great example of the ABE way saying, "believe in yourself, continue to have self-confidence and never think things are beyond your reach" #ABEway. Here's her story:

"I am a born and raised Trinidadian.  I currently reside with my parents.  I am currently the Senior Accounts Clerk of a well-established Scaffolding Company in Trinidad, my educational and professional background has always been in the accounting field. I would encourage others to advance themselves by enhancing their knowledge and skills coupled with trust in God. The last two papers were very stressful and I wanted to give up on many occasions but with the encouragement from friends and motivating lecturers, I continued to strive for success. Now, I feel accomplished to have completed the training and attained my certification of such a high standard.

I chose the ABE programme because of its affordability, flexibility and its reputable world-class educational standards. Once introduced to the ABE programme, I grasped the chance to acquire new skills and knowledge together with boosting confidence within my professional and personal life.  I consider myself very fortunate to have completed my Level 5 Diploma in Business Management & Human Resources in less than 12 months. I am honoured to be awarded the Top Paper Award for HRM as a result of my enthusiasm, diligence and a lot of hard work.

A close friend recommended that I study the ABE course at CTS College of Business and Computer Science based on their academic reputation and the dedicated lecturers. My experience at the College was exceptional; the lecturers are very dedicated, hardworking and passionate about their teaching. I am very appreciative of all my lecturers, who have gone the extra mile to provide support to me and my classmates. Special heartfelt gratitude is extended to a very dedicated lecturer, Mr Nigel Bhagwatsaran who guided me well and answered continuous queries for the assignments.

ABE is highly recognised in Trinidad and Tobago as the qualification used to enter into administrative positions in both the public and private sectors. It also provides the students with the knowledge and ability to perform their day-to-day duties more efficiently.

Upon completion of this course, I plan to advance towards acquiring my degree in Business Management. I also expect to apply my newly acquired knowledge and skills from the ABE programme to assist my present employer to advance the company as best as possible.

The best thing about studying with ABE is the confidence in applying the knowledge and skills gained at each certified level attained. Furthermore, the ABE programmes offer flexibility to students who work, giving individuals the opportunity for self-development and improvement in different areas of their careers. Lastly, is the affordability of the courses which allows people to continue their studies and improve in their career path despite financial challenges.

I have gained additional skills from the ABE programme to enhance my career, some of the skills I have acquired such as team building and strategic management, I am now assertive in decision making and problem-solving. What I have learned will assist my colleagues in Human Resources and even give valuable input to improve the company.

My tip for success is to stay committed to your studies. Always put your trust in God, he is the only one to make things possible. Persevere towards achieving your goals, no matter what challenges you face, never give up. From my personal experience, there were many times I wanted to give up but I continue and got my certification. Lastly, believe in yourself, continue to have self-confidence and never think things are beyond your reach. Always remember, dreams can come true if we have the courage to pursue them!

After attaining my degree in business management, I plan to follow my dream of opening my own business. With my acquired skills and knowledge, I intend to manage my business and its employees successfully. I believe treating people with respect and fairness in the workplace will encourage a harmonised organisation."
