This qualification will develop your knowledge, understanding, and the skills required to succeed in the tourism and hospitality industries, plus development of your ability to lead and support others. You'll gain broad sector insight to help you develop a career supported by an understanding of how to approach a leadership role, and readiness for progression to higher-level study in related disciplines.

The qualification aims to:

  • Develop employability-enhancing skills such as communication, teamwork, problem-solving, and customer care.
  • Offer opportunities for progression to higher education or entry-level roles within tourism, travel, or hospitality organisations.
  • Develop understanding of the structure, characteristics, and importance of the hospitality and tourism industry within a global context.
  • Provide knowledge of key operational and service areas, including travel, accommodation, food and beverage, and customer service.
  • Enable you to explore contemporary issues and emerging trends, and challenges that influence tourism destinations and tourism and hospitality businesses.
  • Provide the skills to build and manage effective customer relationships, contributing to service quality and business success.

In addition to the compulsory units, you select TWO of four optional leadership units with the following aims:

  • To equip you with knowledge and understanding of the nature of leadership and different leadership styles.
  • To equip you with knowledge of the skills needed to be an effective leader.
  • To equip you with knowledge and skills in relation to how to lead and work effectively in a team.
