This qualification will develop your knowledge, understanding, and the skills needed to succeed in the tourism and hospitality industries, plus additional insight into business management disciplines.  This potentially gives you a wider choice of future career options - you'll gain broad sector insight supported by business acumen, which will help your career and progression to higher-level study in related disciplines.

The qualifications aim to:

  • Develop employability-enhancing skills such as communication, teamwork, problem-solving, and customer care.
  • Facilitate your progression to higher education or entry-level roles within tourism, travel, or hospitality organisations.
  • Develop understanding of the structure, characteristics, and importance of the hospitality and tourism industry within a global context.
  • Provide knowledge of key operational and service areas, including travel, accommodation, food and beverage, and customer service.
  • Explore contemporary issues and emerging trends, and the challenges that influence tourism destinations and tourism and hospitality businesses.
  • Equip you with the skills to build and manage effective customer relationships, contributing to service quality and business success.

In addition to the compulsory units, you select TWO of four optional Business units with the following aims:

  • To equip you with fundamental business skills, knowledge and the understanding necessary to progress.
  • To equip you with knowledge and understanding of business organisations.
  • To equip you with knowledge and skills in relation to finance.
  • To equip you with the knowledge of the skills needed to be an effective leader.
  • To equip you with knowledge and skills in relation to operational management and IT in business.
